You can sign a petition online, takes a second and these do have an effect. Even if you never plan to send any books to me, please sign the petition because maybe someday somebody will if it’s cheap enough.
In the meantime, the Ladies of the Lake in Tilaran, a town on the north west corner of Lake Arenal, have started a kid’s lending library. Not only does their library depend on the kindness of strangers sending books from abroad, but donated books have traveled affordably to other not-for-profit organizations around the globe. That is, until May 14th when the post office did away with M-Bags.
So if you can’t think of me and my needs, think of books for kids world-wide and sign the petition. THANK YOU!

A few comments have built up in my inbox and I’ve not responded to them, but I will, I promise. Sometimes it takes me a long time to write back… I suppose I’m waiting for the stars to align before responding. Or for my emotional response to said comment to come full circle. Or maybe I’m just procrastinating. In any event: I will respond, I always do. Eventually. Please be patient – I appreciate your comments and suggestions and questions!!! I’m taking my laptop but don’t know if I’ll have internet access for the next week… we’ll see.

I thought of you recently as I contemplated 20+ boxes of fantastic books we have in storage near San Jose. Rick and I need to deal with our storage unit and let go of stuff we don’t intend to use in the next few years. However much we love the stuff. And we LOVE the stuff we carefully packed and decided to ship here over 2 years ago…
We have excellent tools, amazing books… I want to donate some books to our public library in Nosara. But, embarassingly, I have to admit, there are TOO MANY for the library to accommodate without adding a room. No joke. So I thought: do a book sale, $10 a bag (big bags, or some good deal like that), but really, who would come? Our storage unit is outside of Esparza, about 60-90 min. outside of San Jose, near Puntarenas… But, the tools are great too…
And I thought, I could donate some to a good cause nearer to San Jose also, because there are just too many. Anyway, nothing will happen until about November, because we’ll be out of town for 7 weeks during Sept. and October and it’s too rainy to unload the unit outside (can’t count on dry weather). But I totally appreciate any ideas you might have for how to get some very high quality household goods, most of which are a garage of great tools and a library of books, to the rightful new owners who will love and appreciate them. Write when you can…
