About the gig last Friday night: I was fabulous. When I could remember the tune. Otherwise, we (you know, me and Lloyd) stood around lookin’ fetching, tapping our toes and smiling. The band is called Harmony Roads, by the way.
El Boyero, the bar/restaurant is pretty nice, big, open, pretty good acoustics. Most of the customers were tico and they LOVE old rock music. I had no idea! We had a few requests: The Eagles’ Hotel California, anything by Axl Rose…

We are reheasing this week and adding more country. Get this: Barry, the leader of the band, has never heard of Dwight Yoakum!!!! Can you BELIEVE that? Can you imagine living your life and never hearing If There Was a Way? Thank God he met me.
Oh Thank God indeed! Good job you’re there to bring some musical culture to the place! Never heard of Dwight Yokam? I truly can’t imagine. Mind you, I did grow up hearing and loving Both kinds of music: country AND western.
Holy crap! Where are you guys playing next? I’m dying to hear some damn good live music. Any chance you guys could swing some David Allen Coe? I live over here in Escazu, and have been here about a year now. You’re right about Ticos and their love of old rock too, Radio Dos is probably one of the only stations on earth that plays good Donovan and Steely Dan. But hell, let me know when and where you guys are playing next, sounds like a real good time.
I haven’t heard of half of those songs but I do know DAC! “If this ain’t country, you can kiss my ass”. Ticos love country rock. I have cd’s in my car and everytime I get my car worked on, they love my music. I just give them that cd cause I can make another. Wonder how “Rocky Top” would go over? I know they know “Proud Mary”. Tina’s hot and I can imagine you doing that one!
Sounds like good fun and I’m missing it! Let me know when you’re on next.
Dear Sara, Do you know why only on this site do I get the message window
Stack overflow at line 1590
I have no idea what it means but it is surely annoying.
Yeah, Carly, these people clearly need an education! I’m on the job!!!
Merlyn, you are on the list. You’ll get an email notice when the band plays next! Don’t know about DAC… I’ll ask.
Teri, doll, you are on the list, too. Rocky Top would be great fun – good harmony possibilities!
Cindy: From what I can see, it only happens with internet explorer… Can you download and use Mozilla as your browser? http://www.mozilla.com – you might end up at http://www.firefox.com, don’t really know. But it’s the only browser I use unless forced to use IE. I’ve written my typepad support, see if there’s anything I can do on my end! Thanks for letting me know.
Good Lord, am I ever glad I found this blog. Thanks for putting me on the list!
Hi Merlyn, Thanks for joining us! Your blog is very funny… welcome to exile, er, expatism!
Anytime! I got you bookmarked. And you’re absolutely right about Firefox, I love how you can tweak this thing!
