Yep, we are really doing it. Now's your chance to have genuine Saratica pre-owned excellent crap. You might never get this chance again. Actually, knowing me, you probably will. Anyhoo, here's this round's Great Stuff:
• 2006 Kymco Xciting 500 maxi-scooter $2000 OBO by Saturday 28 August Electric blue with matching top box. Less than 1300 miles on it. New rear shocks and battery. Lots of storage, automatic transmission. Runs like new. Smooth and powerful. Lightweight. Dr. Pulley sliders for city gearing. Will cruise all day at 100km/hr. Includes two helmets.
Hal drives this everywhere. It is so cheap to run, it's practically free. He will buy one in the states as soon as he gets there. For double this price. Oddly, scooters are twice as much in the states.
• Furnished House for Rent $950 Escazú LAST CHANCE!!! (about 2 minutes up the hill from Country Day School), 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 3,000sf, 180 degree view of the central valley, very quiet area, convenient to everything. Comfortably furnished, including all appliances (side-by-side fridge with water and ice in door, glass stove top, washer, dryer), kitchen stuff (fully outfitted: dishes, silverware, cookware, rice cooker, microwave, etc.), sheets, towels, two TVs, modems, UPS', everything.
Home features two living rooms, huge bedrooms, master is large enough to include an office area and a sitting area, big walk-in closets and built in storage areas, large laundry room, large "mud room" as you come in from garage. One of the bedrooms has a bath ensuite and separate from the rest of the house, perfect for guests.
Rent is $950/month plus utilities. Utilities run about $350/month for electric, water, cable tv, gardener and hi-speed internet (Amnet), landline phone. There is also a Vonage modem and phones which we will leave if you want to use. You'll get your own line, but that is easy to do.
Our maid will stay on if you like. She is very honest, reliable and a good worker. Works 2 days a week, costs $250/month (including her social security).
We've lived here four years, no trouble, great house, great landlord. Both we and the landlord are easily reachable when you have any questions.
Re. the furnishings: There is an additional small out of the way room we will fill with the stuff we are not taking back right now. We are leaving our furniture in exchange for being able to keep that room to use as storage. Our dream is to return to Costa Rica one day in the not too distant future. If you would like to buy our furnishings / kitchen stuff / appliances / bedding, etc. for $4,500 and be done with us, that is ok, too!
Pictures here from just before we moved in. New pictures coming soon!
• Yamaha Electric Piano $500 SOLD $500 Clavinova 220 with bench, owner's manual, box of sheet music and instructional books.
*Git=Get, Jir=Your, Rat Cheer=Right Here. This is actually no-by-God-kidding how we talk in KY.
You are more popular than Jeff Foxworthy!!!!!
Hey Saratica, I hope your plan to return to your adopted Key West for the boys’ adolescent
years (good idea) for one year, for obvious reasons, helps you and Hall make the transition easy. Just make sure they stay away from drugs, homeless transients, and Fantasy Fest-type individuals (if you know what I mean) and they will get that valuable American education and culture they sorely need.Maybe they will get a scholarship someday and appreciate what they miss in beautiful Costa Rica later.
As much as they are happy about going back to the states, I know they are sad about leaving Costa Rica. It’s a hard transition to make, but I think good for all of us right now. Hey, some of my best friends are Fantasy-Fest type individuals, lol!
Well, Saratica, I wish you sooo well. I hope you find what you are seeking! I know you’ll have adventures as life opens up in a new location.
I know you’ll miss your life in CR. Shoot, I’ll miss your life in CR.
I just hope it is the best for your family, ’cause I know that’s why you’re doing the move. I think you’ll be back, but that may just be my prejudice.
I know it has to be a big commitment, ’cause I’d never give up my Kymco Xciting if it weren’t really important. Hal has to be really sure.
My sadness is only exceeded by my hopes for your continued success, wherever it may be!
All my best,
Fred
All I’ve ever wanted was a horse, a pool and a piano. I’d like to buy yours but need to wait until after the 18th of Aug. to pay for it. I’d love to see you before you take off for the hills! -t
If it’s not sold, it’s yours! I’ll let you know.
Can’t believe you’ve moved back. If there was anyone I was betting to stay, it would have been you and Hal. You will have a tough few months adjusting, I swear you will even miss being immersed in spanish. But life goes on, then Costa Rica just becomes a fond memory.
Good luck.
I already miss being immersed in Spanish! The KY accent is something to behold, let me tell ya… Spanish is musical. A hick Southern accent, which is what I used to have before acting school coached it outta me, is something else entirely.
We have rented the house furnished to a friend for a year at which point we can have it back or re-rent. Our back door back to CR. At this moment, I am confident Hal and I will be back. But you know what they say about making plans…
Thank you.
Hey Sally! Make sure you come over and “hang” a while before you guys leave 🙂
Let me know if you decide to sell your dryer!
