It’s Saturday morning now and the sun is shining BRIGHT. So bright I had to close the blinds… I miss it already. Day 6 was Thursday and it rained all day until about 9pm. Then, mysteriously, magically, it stopped like someone turned off the faucet. The fog disappeared and I could see the lights across the valley. It was thrilling!
Friday we woke to bright sunshine and it stayed beautiful all day. Clouded up late, a little drizzle, but nothing else. This morning, gorgeous again. Next week, we are supposedly getting another tropical wave and another week of rain. As long as I know there is an end in sight – and quickly – I can stand it. How do they stand it in Viganella?
We are going to be visiting San Ramon at the end of June. When is it that the mini summer usually begins?
When I was there in March, I was a bit surprised at how crackling dry and brown everything looked. I had never seen CR at the end of the dry season. I am almost anxious to see if the vegetation at my property has indeed returned to the vibrant shades of green I remember from my November visit. I have been there for short visits nearly each month of the year now and I suppose the best time to see Costa Rica is January and February when the green is still present from the rainy season. I have yet to undergo any length of time during green season. I have only been through a few days where it did not stop raining.
Don’t worry: your place will be luscious and green before you know it. Probably already is! Last year at the end of the dry season, it was the same. WE were all thirsty, it was so dry. But the rains come and the grass grows. And grows.
This is very unusual, all this rain, during the month of May. It should be beautiful in June, not too rainy, but who knows? May has never been like this that my long time friends can remember.
Usually, green season is wonderful: sunny mornings, afternoon rains. You get used to going out in the rain, otherwise, you are inside ALL the time. But it’s a sleepy time of year. Night-times are usually not raining… just the afternoons. Then October/November it rains all the time. Good time to visit elsewhere!
Isn’t it funny, people just don’t understand what you mean when you say it rained. It’s not like anything I’ve ever seen this time of year. A local told me it was part of a tornado. Scary stuff down here.
YOU KNOW it’s real rain when you blog about it.
What a fun story that one of Viganella, I was already setting up my trip (during the months of darkness…….to sleep and drink beer ‘all night’ ) …..imagine my disappointment when I discovered that they did actually set up the mirror and its in operation :-s
I guess I will have to go back to the plans of going to Scandinavia during Winter 🙂
Send me a postcard. Although all that sleep sounds good…
