Here’s an update to Henry and Robyn’s story in today’s A.M. Costa Rica. With a photo: click here! Henry sent me other photos… it’s pretty awful… In a small town like Jaco, they should catch the thugs. Doesn’t everyone know who these guys are???? If they lived in Key West, we could find them… it’s just too small a town.
With the number of tourists and resident gringos that speak English there in Jaco I am suspicious that there should have been a need for a translator.
I believe the translator was a friend. Even here in Escazú, “gringo-land”, I’d need a translator. 99% of the time, I encounter Spanish wherever I go, as it should be – I’m thrilled with that. It’s hardest at the doctor or the bank, where I don’t want to misunderstand ANYTHING. Or if I had to fill out a police report. God forbid.
