Ok, not exactly "sleeping with Saratica"… but sleeping at our home! If you are visiting Costa Rica, you are welcome to stay with us. You'll sleep in our cheery guest room with a cozy double bed and private bath, plus you have a separate room with a daybed and a TV.
AMENITIES: Wifi, cool nights (home is at 1300m or 4,000'), garage parking, cable TV, fridge. Laundry facilities are self-service, $4/load, $2 if you hang your clothes to dry. Rent our GPS for $50/week (all the good places are already programmed in!)
LOCATION: In Escazú, just south of San José in the Central Valley. Fifteen to 30 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. Escazú is the most modern city in Costa Rica, with easy access to dentists, plastic surgeons, doctors, hospitals, shopping, restaurants, a great huge mall and the country's first and only IMAX theatre. You are five minutes from downtown San José and two to five hours from anywhere else in Costa Rica.
This is a perfect jumping off place to see the country. Stay with us a night or two, go visit another area of the country, come back to us for a night or two, and repeat!
PRICE: $50/night for two people including breakfast. If you'd like to eat dinner with us, add $10/person. Simple fare made from fresh, organic (when possible) all local food. My husband is a former restaurant owner and a fantastic cook.
NOTE: Just so there are no ugly surprises, this is not a guesthouse or B&B. It's really our home and you are staying with us like friends and family do. "Us" is husband, wife, two gigantic teens, three big fat chickens and Winston, 65 pounds of pure Valley Bulldog love. It ain't Los Sueños, but it's definitely a taste of the adventure! Clean, comfortable home, good food, good conversation, fun family.
CONTACT US: For reservations or if you have questions, email us or call U.S. 305-395-4861, Costa Rica 2228-9474. See you soon!
We stayed with Sally, Hal, & the gigantic teens in January ’10 & loved it! The house is very cool & has an amazing view over the city. Waking up to Hal making wonderful noises in the kitchen every morning was a treat! And the food coming out of that kitchen was even better. 🙂
Don’t let the ‘double bed’ scare you – we are not small people & dh & I were comfortable & slept very well.
If you get a chance to sleep with Sally do so – you won’t regret it. They really are a very nice, hospitable family. We felt at home there right away – no awkward breaking in time, & their location is a great jumping off point for many many locations. Ok, I’ll shut up now. What are you waiting for? GO! 🙂
Thanks guys for a great adventure!

PS – hug Winston for us!
My family of four has stayed in Saratica’s home in Escazu four times in the past three years. I am happy to be able to give her and her family an enthusiastic recommendation.
The guest room is clean and private. It has its own bathroom and there is a second bedroom with a television. The location is very easy to find with Saratica’s directions in both English and Spanish. We have travelled to her home both by taxi and by car and the directions were perfect. It’s close to just about everything in the Central Valley and also the main highway that takes you to the rest of the country.
Saratica’s family is very warm and welcoming. We had dinner with them several evenings because the food and company were better than anything we could find elsewhere. All the meals were delicious and nutritious and we were always made to feel like family. They went out of their way to please every member of our family.
Costa Rica is a small country on the map but very large when you’re there. It was very relaxing to be able to stay at such nice accomodations at the beginning and at the end of our trips and so close to the airport.
When planning each trip, we received great advice by email from Saratica on what places to see and how to get there. Her travel experience made our trips even better.
I would welcome any direct inquiry by email at badgett@gmail.com.

Willow says the best part of staying with the O’Boyle family is “everything.” She is counting the days until we go back to the O’Boyles again.
When staying with the O’Boyle family you are made to feel at home.
Our teenage son was happy that the house had Wi-fi and he could get online.
